(Fight Grid Logo buzzes.)
(The scene opens up inside EAW Headquarters, and to the proverbial newsroom. Molly Waters is seen sitting behind her desk and she has a professional, yet somber expression on her face.)
Molly Waters: Last night in Houston, Voltage put on their annual Shock Value event, which is their final brand exclusive event of the season. As always, it was an exciting, albeit violent event. One of the most highly anticipated matches of the evening involved Dr. Bethany Blue defending her Hardcore Championship against her husband, Adam Lucas. The build-up to the event was rather controversial, and we saw cracks in their solid marriage beginning to form. Needless to say, the members of the EAW Universe weren’t exactly sure what they were going to get last night, and I highly doubt any of them could have predicted what was to come.
Molly Waters: When the dust settled, neither Adam nor Bethany would emerge with the Hardcore Championship. It would be Kai Rabeaux, victorious earlier in the night against Hans Grayson, who would walk away with the championship and orchestrated a single minute in time that would change the course of Adam and Bethany’s lives.
(Molly takes a deep breath.)
Molly Waters: I am here this afternoon to bring you an update on Dr. Bethany Blue’s and Adam Lucas’ conditions. It was a harrowing scene as Kai snatched the Hardcore Championship from the referee and celebrated, as two people who put their professional and personal lives on the line were stretchered out of the arena. Bethany’s screams of anguish reverberated throughout the stadium last night and unfortunately, I don’t have good news.
Molly Waters: Unbeknownst to Bethany, as well as Adam, Bethany was at or around eight weeks pregnant with their first child. A representative for them stated that Dr. Blue has been an advocate of the IUD form of birth control, something she has recommended for her own patients, but unfortunately she fell into the 1% of patients that can actually get pregnant while on it.
Molly Waters: The fetus did not survive due to the severity of the injuries Bethany suffered. Bethany’s rep said she would not be commenting on the situation at this time and would like privacy. Adam Lucas’ injuries involved severe facial lacerations and bruises, as well as a severe concussion. Upon finding out what happened, he destroyed his hospital room, was refused to be seen by Bethany, and ultimately caused a big enough disturbance that a ‘Code Gray’ was called at the hospital and he was escorted off the premises in handcuffs. He also declined to comment.
Molly Waters: What was already a sad situation in terms of their marriage, has now been marred by something unthinkable. At this time, all of us at EAW send our well wishes to both Bethany and Adam. Thank you so much and have a good afternoon.
